Winner - James Davis - Multi sports.
Swimming - achieved National times for 400m freestyle, 800m freestyle & 1500m freestyle.Modern biathlon - James is National schools biathlon champion. Tennis - James was a member of the Coopers Coburn team that reached the finals of the National schools championships & he also represented Havering in the London Youth Games, helping the team to reach the finals.Athletics - He is Havering schools 1500m champion.

 

Junior Female Sports Competitor of the Year

Winner - Eleanor Bounds - Athletics.
Winner of the London Mini Marathon, beating over 250 runners from all the 33 London Boroughs. Won silver at 800m & 1500m in Essex Championships, winning gold at 800m in Essex Schools Championships. Eleanor then finished 4th in the National Schools 800m final and was a member of the winning 3 x 800m relay team in the Essex Championships.

 

Sports Competitor of the Year

Winner - Faye Fullerton - Athletics.
Winner of World University Cross Country championships held in France. Competed for Great Britain in the World Cross Country Championships. Won the BMC Grand Prix 1500m in Manchester. She finished in 4th place in The G.B. Olympic Trials narrowly missed out on selection for the BeijingOlympics.A member of the team that finished 4th in the National Road Relays and she won silver in the National Cross Country Championships. Faye is ranked No. 1 in London & 7th in Britain at 1500m.

 

Sports Volunteer of the Year

Winner - Jean Tierney - Athletics.
Jean is Hon Secretary of Havering Mayesbrook Athletic Club and President of Essex AAA. She is a graded track judge, a club coach, a schools athletic coach & schools liaison officer. Jean is manager of the Havering athletics team in the London Youth Games and organises trials and teams for the London mini marathon on behalf of the borough as well as helping with all the schools athletics competitions in the borough.

Winner - Havering Mayesbrook Athletics Club.
A team of qualified, unpaid coaches provide training in track, field & cross country disciplines. Club teams have won competitions at all levels from county to national and club members have won individual golds at the world university championships & the British schools championships and many county events. Club members have represented Havering, Essex, England & Great Britain in various track and field competitions.

 

Senior School Team of the Year

Winner - Coopers Coborn Company School, Girls Cross Country Team.
Following success in national competitions the team were selected en bloc to represent England in The World Schools Cross Country Championships in the Czech Republic. Competing against 22 teams from around the World the girls finished in a very creditable 7th place.

 

Primary School Team of the Year

Winner - Ardleigh Green Athletics Team.
The team won the partnership event at Coopers Coborn School and then went on to win the Havering championships. This put them forward to the London Youth Games winning bronze. They then went on to win 8 trophies at the district sports. 7 out of 8 relay teams won their events breaking 3 Havering records on the way.

Winner - Tony Conway – Services to Boxing
Tony has been Hon Secretary of Five Star Boxing Club for 40 years. During this time he has carried out his duties, plus organising trips & supplying the transport to venues all over Britain & Ireland, without taking a penny in expenses. Tony was mainly responsible for organising the fundraising and sponsorship, that raised the money to meet the costs of repairs and renovations required to keep the club going. He also serves on many regional committees & sub committees.
