Stubbers Young Mariners Sailing Club
SYM Sailing Club has joined the national OnBoard scheme which aims to encourage young people to try sailing.Funded by Sport England and run by sailing’s National Governing Body (the RYA) OnBoard is a highly successful industry supported grass roots programme which seeks to make sailing more accessible to young people.
Over a ten year period the programme aims to introduce a minimum of 500,000 young people to sailing in the UK, converting over 10% of them into regular participants. One of the aims of OnBoard is to provide low cost sailing opportunities for young people via partnerships between sailing clubs and other voluntary youth. We have arranged 4 OnBoard days this year when, for a nominal fee of £10 each, we will provide sailing taster sessions for groups of up to 12 young non-members at a time. Although open to individuals these sessions are primarily aimed at youth organisations or families.Provisional dates are Sundays 6th June, 18th July, 22nd August and 3rd October.
